HPS Grafting Workshop
|
August 16th 2008 9:30 am Loose Park Garden Center 5200 Pennsylvania Avenue HPS is especially proud of the tree peony grafting workshop. It has been two years since we conducted this program and this class always fills. Student get the basic training about grafting and apply it 'hands-on' during this workshop. Students get all the equipment, supplies and materials needed to complete one or two of their own grafts and get expert individual guidance. Students can bring home supplies and equipment and complete more grafts at home. HPS has conducted this workshop on numerous occasions and to great appreciation. The registration cost is less than the cost of one completed tree peony graft. The class is open to members only. Just $5 for an annual membership. Click on "Join" on our Home Web Page. <> |

HPS Annual Meeting and Fall Program |
Friday and Saturday October 4th, 2008 Roy Klehm of Klehm's Song Sparrow Nursery will be the featured speaker at our Fall Event. This October we will join forces with our gardening colleagues in the Garden Center Association and bring to town an authority in the peony field. The Klehm family is well known to peony lovers as noted hybridizers with many acclaimed introductions over the years. The Klehm catalog is a mouth-watering feast of rare and specialty perennials, shrubs and trees. We have a new, larger location for Roy Klehm's visit -- the school auditorium of Pembroke Hill School, 400 W. 51st Street, at the north edge of Loose Park. The program is free and open to the public. The evening before will be our annual pot luck and peony auction. The auction, always a highly-anticipated event, includes very rare and choice peonies from many generous donors. We've had members come from all over the U.S. and as far away as Australia to partake in this event. It is open to members only. Fortunately, it's easy and very inexpensive to join. Just $5 for an annual membership. Click on "Join" on our Home Web Page. |
